FDM – New approaches in pain therapy

FDM stands for Fascial Distortion Model and is also known as the Typaldos Method. FDM is used to treat pain in the musculoskeletal system. Fasciae are connective tissue structures that run throughout the entire body. They provide support and tension. These fasciae can become twisted, adhered, or dislocated due to overuse, improper use, trauma, and surgery.
Previously neglected in medicine, these factors have been recognized in recent years as a cause of movement disorders due to numerous new findings in medicine, fitness, and therapy. This has led to many sensible and effective therapeutic approaches.
The FDM model enables a rapid diagnosis of the cause of pain and immediate treatment of the consequences and discomfort.
Every patient expresses this pain through specific body language and speech. We recognize this body language and it helps you directly to a pain-free life.

Do the following symptoms sound familiar to you?

Do you have a localized pain (often in the neck or back) that arises from running your fingers along a line? These are trigger bands. This pain is described as pulling and burning.
Localized, pinpoint pain, known as "herniated trigger points," disrupts tissue function and often significantly restricts movement. Patients frequently attempt to relieve this pain by applying pressure to the affected area. Herniated trigger points commonly occur in the buttocks, back/neck (lumbago, stiff neck), and pelvic floor (signs: urinary incontinence).

Do you know those small, sharp points that can be pinpointed with a finger (usually the index finger)? These points are often found at the tip of the kneecap (patellar tendinitis) and at the shoulder (impingement).

Are you familiar with diffuse pain that occurs WITHOUT painful pressure or pain points in the tissue, which often migrates and mostly occurs at night?

Are you familiar with fixed, but painless, movement restrictions, for example in the shoulder (frozen shoulder)? The movement seems to be stopped.

How is the treatment performed and what is the effect of the FDM model?
Immediately following the diagnosis, and depending on the specific tests and in-depth questions, targeted treatment is carried out using FDM manipulation techniques. These manipulations can sometimes be painful, but the patient immediately feels that their problem is being addressed directly and that the blockages are dissolving.
